The PC version of Glomhaven is shaping up to be as good as the boardgame (IMO). I looked at Gloomhaven and it doesn't seem like something for me either, it's more of a board game feel too it regardless i really appreciate the comments.Ĭheers! Gloomhaven IS a board game. However, i will be keeping my eye on this as in BG3 really got me into these DnD type games. It's clear after reading through this i'd go with D:0S2. I really appreciate the round-up summary of both games. If you'd rather explore a vast interactive world and play a finished game until the end, go for Divinity: Original Sin 2.Įither way, you can't make a bad choice, they're both excellent. So in a nutshell: If you're not discouraged by EA, and if you like the technical side of the turn-based combat, go for Solasta, it's a lot of fun.

But it's EA, D:OS2 is a mature product, well polished, with guides all around, mods and easy-to-find support if you're stuck. Solasta is very well-made, it's more original and combats are more strategic than D:OS2. The story is smaller, there will be less side quests, less voice-acting, there won't be action/consequences and different endings, the duration of the game will be smaller. D:OS2 is more about adventure and freedom of action, very similar to BG3.Īnother big difference comes from Solasta being made by a much smaller team than D:OS2. The style is different too, Solasta is very tabletop-inspired, with OOC comments from party members, a world that is more rigid, more NWN-like. So it's much simpler and feels a bit less mature than the D&D ruleset, but it's not bad by any means. Classes are less restrictive than D&D's, and there is a common currency, Action Points, for moves, attacks or inventory interaction. Divinity: Original Sin 2 is quite different. Solasta is D&D 5E (the rules, not the lore), and is turn-based, so there will be similaries with Baldur's Gate 3 combats, even though Larian has modified the rules and broken the balance somewhat.
